Method 1: fix using advanced system repair tool

The most common reason behind Windows update failed is corrupt or damaged system files like DLL files, exe files, sys files, etc. There are hundreds of small system files that work for specific tasks. If one of the files is replaced, removes or damages, it is feasible that you get Windows update error 0x80070006.

Download and install the advanced system repair tool and scan your PC. It has a large database with 25 million files. It will find all the corrupted or deleted system files and reinstall them with the new one. Later, optimizing with advanced system repair tool, try installing the windows update again.

Method 2: run Windows Update troubleshooter

This method works most of the time and fix 0x80070006 failed update error without any complexity. It is very easy to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter and here are the complete steps to run it.

This is a command line tool used to fix system file problems. If there is any damage to the system files or DLL files, this tool easily replace them with a healthy one. You can run the System File Checker tool as follows:

Paso 1: Open command prompt as administrator. Go to the Start menu and find the command. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

1. Open Command prompt as administrator. Ir Look for menu and type command. Later right click on command prompt and select Execute as an administrator.

2. Now, must stop some update services. These services are BITS, cryptographic, MSI Installer and Windows Update Services. Copy and paste the following command in the command prompt and press Enter.

net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver

3. Now, Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder and the Catroot2 folder. Copy and paste the following command in the command prompt and press Enter

ren C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:WindowsSystem32catroot2 Catroot2.old

4. Inicie IS, Cryptographic, MSI Installer y Windows Update Services again. Copy and paste the following command in the command window and press Enter.

net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver

5. Kind Departure to close the command prompt. Now try to download and install the update again and you will most likely not get the error code 0x80070006.

Method 5: Run DISM command line tool to repair 0x80070006
