The Microsoft Office Installer, which you get via ISO image file / IMG, does not allow you to choose which applications you want to install. It is a tool that allows you to choose which Office or Microsoft applications 365 install, the language and other desired settings.
With ODT it is possible to download and install Office products that use the installation technology Click and run. Thus, avoid having to download the Office ISO and gain more control over your installation.
Download and install Office, Project y Visio
With the Office Deployment Tool (ODT), you will not only be able to download and install Office, but also Microsoft 365, Project and Visio in your organization. This would be nothing extraordinary if it weren't for its main advantage.: customize installation. For example, You can only install Microsoft Word and Visio from 32 bits in spanish, excluding all other applications.
To start, you need to run ODT and extract the executable to a folder. What you will get will be the setup.exe and XML configuration files. Before you can install Office products, you need to edit the config file and then run setup.exe from command line.
Therefore, the next step is create configuration.xml file from a template (manually) or believe it from the Office web customization tool. In this configuration file you can define the version of Office to install (2021, 2019, 365,…), the architecture (32 O 64 bits) and the language (español, English, etc.). You can also indicate if you want to install Visio, Project or language pack.
Of course, here you can also indicate which Office applications you want to install and which ones to exclude: Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher, OneDrive and / o Skype for Business. There are many other things you can configure.
It is important that the XML configuration file and Setup.exe are in the same location. Later, you must run command prompt (CMD) from this location. To do this, select address bar, type CMD and hit Enter. Then run the following command from CMD: setup.exe / configure configuration.xml to start the installation of the Office products that you indicated in the XML file.
In case you want to specify the product key in the configuration.xml file, you can use MAK product keys (Multiple activation key) or buy the license from the Microsoft store or from a reseller. You can also enter the password manually, after installation, in an Office application, like Word, going to File> Account> Change product key.
